Job Description

This position provides an exciting and challenging opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic engineering product development environment for industrial gas turbines for power generation. Each day involves working both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and team members on program development projects, component improvements, and technology enhancements according to priorities and assignments. Design and analysis efforts will rely heavily on collaboration, not only with immediate team members, but with global and cross-organizational resources. Continuous learning will take place, through execution of tasks and activities, application of discipline knowledge, implementation of innovative thinking and ideas, and through attendance of specific courses, both technical and non-technical. You will utilize and exercise cutting-edge design and analysis tools in these endeavors, while identifying areas and aspects for improvement. You will support your colleagues through sharing of ideas, questions, and results, and communicate and present directly with internal customers, stakeholders, management, leadership councils and design boards, as required.

 


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • You will contribute to design of turbine hot gas path components, providing critical thermal evaluations and designs achieving state-of-the-art performance in terms of efficiency, component life, robustness, and manufacturability.
  • You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the tools landscape, including heat transfer specific tools, tool chains, and automated workflows, through utilization of tools and data reduction activities, providing ideas for improvement in functionality, efficiency, analysis fidelity, including identification of AI/ML opportunities (with follow-on support).
  • You will contribute to vital engine and component testing, critical for validation of designs, analyses, and tools, by providing engine test and validation requirements, preparing test predictions and performing post-test data reduction and analyses.

 


What You Bring

  • University degree in mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering, with a focus thermo-fluids
  • Experience and familiarity in turbo-machinery, fluid systems, or similar applications
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer discipline fundamentals
  • 2+ years experience with FEA, CFD, and CAD
  • Computational and programming skills proficiency (e.g. APDL, python)
  • Comfortable in a global and dynamic, fast-paced Integrated Product Team environment
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, self-directed, and innovative
  • Exceptional inter-personal and communication skills
  • Business fluent in English
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for Siemens Energy sponsorship

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
