Responsible for providing career and academic planning for students college wide. Administers and interprets career assessment instruments, facilitating use of occupational and labor market data resources. Assists students and graduates in self-appraisal and exploration of career, academic and work programs and services of the College. Manages a student caseload in the undecided career pathway, and assists students with educational and career planning. Supports academic advising during peak enrollment periods. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and possibly during holidays.
Loxahatchee and Belle Glade Campus
Minimum Base Pay: $40,730.00. All salary calculations start at the minimum salary and will be based on candidate's education and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Administers career assessments and advises students in selecting a career pathway, college major or program of study. Assists students in understanding educational, personal and occupational strengths and limitations.
Coaches students in developing effective job seeking procedures and techniques. Educates students on career exploration resources and decision-making strategies.
Coordinates career development outreach programs. Presents workshops on career development topics.
Utilizes career development platforms to post employment opportunities and assists students in using the system. Assists with employer outreach activities to maintain and develop new career opportunities for students.
Counsels students regarding their adaptability to a college environment. Analyzes assessment results and identifies areas requiring further attention.
Acts as a liaison for programs and services with outside agencies and employers.
Participates in and manages all phases of an assigned project. Plans and oversees the preparations and dissemination of project communications. Produces related project reports, as needed.
Handles requests from parents and students regarding programs, transfers, and degrees. May conduct workshops with parents regarding College or program information requirements.
Prepares required reports for various internal and external requests. Designs and creates training content and materials for topic presentations.
Utilizes multiple software programs to manage and track student contact, communication, and appointments
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
One year of related experience
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) within 30 days of employment
Career development theories
Student success platforms and career databases
Skilled in:
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Managing and resolving conflict in a positive manner
Using various video conference platforms
Ability to:
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
Work with individual students to develop multiple models of academic success
Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
Travel to other campus locations
Work in a variety of settings to deliver services to students without a decrease in performance
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Regular physical attendance required
Some periods throughout the year will require extended work hours including nights, weekends, and college closures
Preferred Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Higher Education Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field
Experience administering Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator or other career assessments
Skilled in:
Bilingual communication
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Career Counseling Certification from National Career Development Association (CCC) or National Certified Career Counselor (NCCC) certification
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
Reach and grasp objects
Use of video display terminal
Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
Communicate information orally and in writing
Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
