Department Summary | There are twenty-five full-time faculty and two adjunct faculty members in the department; they have diverse research interests spanning molecular genetics, cellular immunology, microbiology, cancer and health disparities. Our research mission is supported by more than $9 million in federal grant funding. We foster a highly collaborative and collegial environment in which the faculty, trainees, and staff work together to advance innovative, cutting-edge scientific discovery related to human health. The department provides high quality training for students interested in careers in biomedical research or medicine. The goals of our graduate program are (1) to provide a broad and sound education in microbiology, immunology and genetics of human disease and (2) to provide rigorous research training in an environment dedicated to advancing biomedical science. The department has numerous trainees including postdoctoral fellows, students earning DO/PhD, PhD and MS degrees. The trainees and faculty in the department are a cohesive group from diverse backgrounds which fosters scientific innovation and discovery. We support graduate training programs in genetics; cell biology, immunology and microbiology; and biochemistry and cancer biology. Position Summary | The School of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank for a 12-month appointment, beginning in the spring/summer. Rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials, qualifications, and experience. Ideal candidates will have undergraduate teaching experience in the biomedical sciences with a focus on delivering biochemistry courses at the junior or senior level, with relevant online course delivery expertise. These are primarily teaching faculty positions with appropriate effort allocation available to permit the pursuit of scholarly and research activities. |
Minimum Qualifications | Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Anatomy, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Epidemiology, Genetics, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Physiology, etc.). Two years or more teaching experience in Higher Education, in a face-to-face or online setting. Demonstrated experience in teaching biochemistry or related courses at the undergraduate level. Demonstrated experience in curriculum and course development and assessment. |
Preferred Qualifications | Experience in undergraduate education. Experience in online course development and teaching. Experience in course content delivery through the Canvas platform. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse. Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume. Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations. |
