Primary Purpose of Department | The Department of Computer Science is experiencing significant growth in enrollment and externally funded research. The Department doubled its size over the past 5 years and is currently the academic home for over 2,100 students pursuing BA, BS, MS, and PhD degrees. The Department of Computer Science is one of the three Departments in the College of Computing and Informatics. Department’s current research and education strengths include visual and video analytics, natural language processing, knowledge discovery, distributed systems and networks, software engineering, robotics and cognitive computing. |

Essential Duties and Responsibilities | The hired candidate is expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, contribute significantly to the advancement of basic science and engineering, and develop a nationally recognized program of sponsored research. The candidate must have demonstrated impact at senior (Full or Associate) professor level or demonstrated equivalent impact in teaching, research and development. The successful applicant will hold a position in the Department of Computer Science. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. |
Minimum Experience/Education | UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. |
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience | The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, exceptionally qualified faculty member with an international reputation to establish and conduct research programs, including interdisciplinary collaborative programs, and demonstrated leadership in computational analytics. Computational analytics describes the collective disciplines of computational science and data science and analytics. It includes methods and techniques for the curation, exploration, and analysis of large volumes of data as well as the development of models for the purpose of understanding, assessment, innovation, and prediction. Candidates must hold PhD degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, have demonstrated excellence and leadership in research and be committed to excellence in teaching, social justice and equity. Experience with industry partnerships is preferred. |
