Responsibilities: |
The microscopy research assistant provides technical support for the core imaging facilities in the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS). Duties include assistance in the operation and maintenance of major instruments such as confocal microscopes, a transmission electron microscope (TEM), a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an atomic force microscope (AFM), as well as administrative tasks. This position requires previous experience with at least one type of microscopy and the ability to learn a variety of new microscopy techniques. This position will ensure that the imaging facilities are able to maintain their high standard of research support. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or a field of study related to the research of the laboratory. One year of experience operating a microscope, such as confocal, TEM, SEM or AFM. Ability to perform essential duties independently with attention to detail. Possess effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects. Must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to exemplary customer service. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
At least two years of experience operating one type of microscope and/or at least three years of experience operating more than one type of imaging-related instrument. |
