Position Summary
The Thaxton laboratory at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill seeks a qualified postdoctoral fellow with extensive expertise in molecular biology and cancer immunology. The successful candidate will spearhead individual projects and collaborative efforts within the PI’s program at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) and with other groups at LCCC. Specifically, the candidate will lead projects surrounding the biology of the endoplasmic reticulum and how the biology impacts immune cell metabolism in the context of tumors. The lab has specific expertise in cell stress and metabolism and experiments include study of cell biology in the stress of solid tumors. Humanized mouse models and multiple other mouse tumor models as well as in vitro work on mouse and human T cells will be required. Analysis of metabolism and stress in immunity in human tumor samples will also be assessed. The successful applicant will be expected to become a leader in the laboratory, working in tandem with graduate students and other postdocs to accelerate the global research mission of the laboratory as well as on his or her independent projects. 
Educational Requirements
A PhD degree in the appropriate biomedical science or related field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree, is required.
Qualifications and Experience
This position requires knowledge of the fields, processes and disciplines of cell biology and metabolism and stress and tumor immunotherapy. The position will involve organizing and implementing research plans, the development of methods of research, testing and data collection, analysis and evaluation, and writing reports containing descriptive, analytical and evaluative content. The duties require discretion and judgement in carrying out research activities within the predetermined research scope and methodology.
