Scope of Job | Trainee position to pursue research as a vital component of their educational mission and professional career development. Works under minimal supervision with some latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment in research of Ribosome biogenesis and cancer, epigenetics and cancer, and Molecular cancer therapeutics in the laboratory and/or teaching. Develop new therapeutic approaches for targeting ribosome biogenesis components and desmoplastic TME for the suppression of growth and metastasis of advanced pancreatic cancer. Performs teaching and/or research work as required within the classroom and/or project assigned. This project will utilize cutting-edge molecular technology and various pre-clinical mouse models (KPC transgenic, orthotopic and patient derived xenograft) to develop new combination (RNA polymerase inhibitor + hyaluronic acid) regimen for the treatment of advanced pancreatic cancer. |
Description of Duties | The following is a listing of typical duties that may be applicable to the position: Create and refine new tools using non-traditional models of cancer to understand resistance to the development of cancer; Work within a multidisciplinary team on projects highly relevant to human disease; Work closely with the PI on grant/manuscript writing, and scientific presentations; Developing, testing, and analyzing research projects based on application expertise and interest; Aiding in the development of a survey instrument, testing the instrument and disseminating the instrument; Writing narrative summaries of the research results, and related tasks under the supervision of the faculty member assigned; Conducting background research; Developing and implementing an evaluation plan and preparing progress reports as needed; Studying, testing, and maintaining accurate data identified as relevant and/or best practice systems from research results obtained through national studies; Designing and implementing training activities as required; Teaching one course per year in conjunction with faculty member, if assigned; Publishing in peer-reviewed publications related to the focus of the research activities assigned; and performing other job-related duties as assigned. |
