Position Summary | The Nimchuk lab is looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our thriving group on NSF and NIH funded projects on development and peptide signaling in plants. Specific available projects include exploring new peptide mediated control of root cell cycle regulation, dissection of new signaling pathway components in stem cell regulation, or the function of new transcriptional effectors of peptide mediated stem cell regulation. The Nimchuk lab uses multiple approaches to dissect plant signaling networks including genetics, genomics, genome editing, live tissue imaging, and cell biological and biochemical methods. We are housed in the Genome Sciences Building in the heart of the UNC campus and have full access to state-of-the-art molecular biology, genomics, greenhouse, proteomics and imaging equipment and facilities. A successful candidate will be expected to engage in independent research on plant developmental peptide signaling and interact with the Nimchuk lab and UNC community of researchers. |
Educational Requirements | The candidate should have obtained, or be expected to obtain, his or her PhD within the last 3 years in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Plant Biology, or a related field. |
Qualifications and Experience | Demonstrated proficiency in either molecular biology, genetics, and/or biochemistry are essential. Plant research experience is highly beneficial but not necessary. Candidates with experience in genomics and/or genetics are also encouraged to apply. A successful candidate will have a record of quality scientific publication from their graduate work. |
Equal Opportunity Employer | The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer and welcomes all to apply regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, age, religion, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We also encourage protected veterans and individuals with disabilities to apply. |
Special Instructions | Applications should be submitted in electronic form, and should include a CV, a short description of previous research and current research interests, and contacts for 3 references (letters not required at this stage).
