The School of Agricultural Sciences & Forestry at Louisiana Tech University is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Agricultural Business. This is a 9-month tenure-track faculty position with an appointment level of 60% teaching, 20% research, and 20% service with an expected start date of September 1, 2024. The successful candidate will join the ranks of an active agriculture program with an emphasis on training undergraduate students for a range of agricultural business-related positions or entry into advanced degree programs (MBA, MS, PhD). Founded in 1894, Louisiana Tech University has approximately 11,000 students and is committed to quality in teaching, research, creative endeavor, public service, and economic development. The School of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry is home to 18 faculty and 9 staff serving approximately 400 students enrolled in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Education, Animal Science, Forestry, and Geographic Information Science degree programs. Our comprehensive agricultural facility features a working farm, greenhouses, horticultural garden, arboretum, farm salesroom, meat science laboratory, geospatial laboratory, and animal-specific farm units (equine, beef, small ruminant, and swine), which collectively provide outstanding opportunities for teaching, research, and outreach.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching expectations include six undergraduate courses per academic year in areas of agricultural economics, agribusiness, and related topics. Louisiana Tech University uses a quarter calendar with faculty teaching during the fall, winter, and spring sessions. Other responsibilities include academic advising, course development, and developing an applied research program in one or more areas of agricultural economics or agribusiness. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, faculty, staff, peers, and administrators. Interacting with industry professionals and individuals on a local, state, and regional level is expected in this position.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or related field pertaining to agricultural business.
