Overview

Provides individual and group psychotherapy, staff education on psychological issues as needed, conducts psychological evaluations and psychological testing. Supervises psychology interns, residents and students in individual and group supervision. The Psychologist is an active member of the treatment team.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A Ph.D. or Psy. D. in clinical psychology from an accredited university

Experience:

  • Skilled in organization, supervision, and state of the art treatment interventions. Experience in providing treatment in an acute and/or institutional setting desirable.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current license as a Psychologist in the state of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and group psychotherapy, designs and implements individualized behavior plans.

  • Provides psychological assessments, as well as psychological evaluations, and quality assurance reviews as required.

  • Serves as a consultant to the multidisciplinary teams.

  • Completes and submits Performance Improvement (P.I.) reports in time frames designated. Follows up on all P.I. Recommendations pertaining to responsible area.

  • Assures P.I. Committee participation as designated to self and those supervised.

  • Supervises and trains the psychology students (Pre-Doctoral Interns, Postdoctoral Residents and Practicum Students), provides training and education to the rest of the clinical team as needed, provides expert testimony to the court, serves on committees as indicated by the Clinical Director.

  • Performs timely, complete and legible documentation of services provided, consistent with professional standards and hospital procedures.

  • Demonstrates understanding of, and complies with special precautions, disaster and fire safety procedures, assists with finding alternatives to seclusion and restraint, knowledge of abuse reporting. Completion of mandatory training, review by Director of Psychology.

  • Demonstrates cultural competency in all aspects of duties performed. This should be particularly evident in interactions with and treatment of Persons Served (P/S). Attends and successfully completes competency training on an annual basis.

  • Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span development needs of each P/S.

  • Attends and successfully completes competency training on an annual basis.

  • All other duties as assigned.
