Human Resources Manager
Job Description
We are hiring a highly experienced HR Manager to join our staff of 140 nationwide as the sole human resources employee, building out processes and relationships currently managed by leadership. This position has hybrid flexiblilty (2 days/week remote) after 2-3 months of fulltime onsite training with the staff.
INDUSTRY: architecture/engineering/construction
PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position is responsible for the functional areas of Human Resources including recruitment, employment, personnel records, benefits administration, employee relations, performance reviews, company policies, equal employment opportunity, and special projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ·Researching, managing, and ensuring the Company is in compliance with all state and federal employment laws (for example, leave laws) in which we have employees residing. In addition, ensure that for any new laws that are being enacted, the Company understands the new law, discusses how the law applies and how the Company can be in compliance.
- Renewal and enrollment of employee benefits, answers employee questions and coordinates with Insurance broker. and checks insurance bills for accuracy.
- Oversees company employee reviews process, including updating of assigned reviewers and oversigh of Administrative Assistant as questions arise.
- Updates Employee Guidelines, personnel files, state and federal employment posters, job descriptions.
- Assists Chief Financial Officer with the Company’s retirement plan, as requested.
- Assists management in recruiting, interviewing and hiring (mostly for technical staff).
- Prepares and updates Affirmative Action plan and equal employment opportunity documents for the government agencies.
- Administers new employee orientation and coordinates the individual’s information, including payroll, benefits, and other miscellaneous information.
- Conducts and processes paperwork for terminating employees, including payroll, COBRA, and benefits information.
- Activates and deactivates building access cards for employees.
- Coordinates leaves of absence with employees, including Family and Medical Leave and disability.
- Tracks training and seminars for employees and maintains database of continuing education/professional development credits.
- Responsible for overseeing and updating the Human Resources Sharepoint site as appropriate when new information arises.
- Assists the Board of Directors and Chief Financial Officer with Human Resource tasks and issues as needed.
- Provides back up for the front desk and Administrative Assistant, as necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources or Interpersonal Relations.
Experience: Minimum fifteen years of human resource management experience, preferably in architecture, engineering or construction. Preference given to candidates with HR experience for small companies (we are under 150).
Skills/Job Knowledge: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, insurance background and employment law knowledge.
- Strong business acumen with ability to drive strategic direction.
- Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal employment-related laws and regulations, Excellent skills in project management and collaborative problem solving with employees and management.
- Exceptional leadership, management, and change management skills.
- Demonstrates a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices
- Ability to foster trust and build credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of and experience with varied HR information systems. Solid understanding of how best to use HR technology to maximize productivity and workforce planning.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.
- HR Certification (e.g. SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is preferred
